Soft top tensioning straps ensure that the soft top of a convertible is folded in the correct direction when opening and closing. They tension the soft top in certain directions and thus prevent it from folding in the wrong direction:

Incorrect folding or jamming of the soft top
Chafing or mechanical damage
Water ingress due to incorrect fit
Reduced wear, as the material iss guided correctly
